Albany International Airport (ALB)
Albany County Airport (ALB)
Welcome to Albany County Airport (ALB)!
ALB is located seven miles northwest of Albany, New York and in the town of Colonie. Established in 1908, it was the first municipal airport in the United States with only a three mile airstrip stretching into the town of Colonie.
ALB is served by eight major commercial carriers: Air Canada, Continental, Continental Connection, Delta, Delta Connection, Southwest, United/United Express, and USAirways/USAirways Express. It is also one of four airports in the world to use dual jet bridges on flights by Southwest Airlines.
If you have a long layover or even an hour to spare, ALB's airport ambassadors offer 60-90 minute tours through the ticketing area and baggage claim. Visitors will get the opportunity to see and hear an aircraft land and take off from the Airport's Observation Deck. The tours are available Monday-Friday and groups are limited to 25 people.
The airport offers free WiFi service and promotes an Art & Culture Program, an airport-wide expansion project started in 1998. ALB hopes to visually enhance the interior of the airport while strenghtening its connection to the diverse demographic it serves. Through free public programs, group tours and various exhibitions, the Art & Culture Program incorporates local artists and museums' work. The airport is not just for travel, but for recognizing and educating others on the local culture as well.
The airport offers a wide selection of food and beverages from classics like Starbucks and McDonalds for travellers on the go to Hudson Valley Wine Bar for those that have extra time. If you forgot to pick up a souvenir for your loved ones at home, you can stop by one of their three gift shops that features a wide variety of gifts for children and adults. The Shop of Capital Region Museums also carries unique hand-crafted gifts and artworks from more than 70 regional museums and cultural institutions. You are bound to find something you like!
ABL offers other amenities like ATMs/Cash Machines, luggage trolleys, business center, currency exchange, food and drinks, information desk, and an interfaith prayer room.
Ground transportation is available via Albany-Shaker road that directly leads you to the I-87. Car rental reservations can be made in the Baggage Claim area of the terminal. CDTA offers public transportation through Routes 610 and 737 that provides access to Colonie and Downtown Albany.
